Chicago The Musical tells the story of chorus girl, Roxie Hart, who murders her lover who has tired of her and then attempts to blame her husband for killing her a lover in a fit of jealousy. However, her attempt to blame her unfortunate husband is not successful and Roxie is sent to prison where she faces a lengthy sentence and possible execution.
The continued popularity of Chicago tickets is no doubt owed to the seductiveness of the story combined with showstopping songs and spectacular dance routines. Once in prison, Roxie quickly follows the lead of street smart Velma Kelly and convinces lawyer of the moment, Billy Flynn to take on her case. Sound of Music. Vs. Wicked. The competition for the leading london musicals production is hotting up with Sound of Music rival, Wicked, setting a new all-time theatre tickets record for a single week's musicals gross in the West End - for the week 26th-30th December 2006, the show sold a record-breaking £873,020 worths of london theatre tickets for the Apollo Victoria London Theatre.
