Evanescence have confirmed two UK shows for November as part of a European tour. The dates follow the release of the bands second album The Open Door on October 2nd 2006. The two dates are November 20th at Londons Hammersmith Apollo and the next day, Nov 21 at the Manchester Apollo.
Evanescence release The Open Door through Columbia Records on 2nd October. It will be preceded by the single Call Me When Youre Sober on September 25th, the video for which rapidly reached the #1 spot on The Box. Call Me When Youre Sober has also hit #1 on MTVs TRL in the US, a feat none of their previous videos ever achieved.
The Open Door was recorded in Los Angeles at The Record Plant earlier this year and was mixed at the venerable Ocean Way Studios in March. It features the return of long-time friend and producer Dave Fortman (Mudvayne, Bif Naked). The new album is an ideal showcase for the bands personal and professional growth. Several songs include a choir, as well as strings recorded in an old chapel. The album is defined by Amy Lees beautiful melodies, profound lyrics, stunning vocals and poignant piano, which fuse with Terry Balsamos urgent, yet intricate guitar playing, to form a remarkable, ethereal blend perfectly rooted in the bands rock and classical sensibilities.
Evanescence is Amy Lee (vocals, piano), Terry Balsamo (guitar), John LeCompt (guitar), and Rocky Gray (drums). Fallen, their debut record, has now sold more than 14 million copies worldwide with over 1.2 million sales in the UK alone. It spawned two Top 10 singles (My Immortal and Bring Me To Life) the latter hit the No 1 spot and stayed there for 4 weeks. Fallen also picked up two Grammy Awards in 2003 (Best New Artist and Best Hard Rock Performance for Bring Me To Life) and spent over 100 weeks on Billboard Magazines Top 200 chart. The album was certified gold or platinum in over 35 countries and resulted in sell-out arena shows across the globe.
The second album The Open Door is out now on Columbia Records on Oct 2nd.
