The principal London cast is confirmed as: Idina Menzel, who will recreate her Tony Award-winning Broadway performance as Elphaba, Helen Dallimore, who will make her West End debut as Glinda, Adam Garcia as Fiyero, Miriam Margolyes as Madame Morrible, Nigel Planer as The Wizard, Katie Rowley Jones as Nessarose, James Gillan as Boq and Martin Ball as Doctor Dillamond. Kerry Ellis will be standby for Elphaba before taking over the role in January 2007 and Annalene Beechey will be the standby for Glinda.

Musical supervisordirector Gareth Valentine has also joined the WICKED creative team. Wicked, the spellbinding and spectacular hit musical, is the untold story of the legendary witches from L. Frank Baum's classic, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. \n\nWhen Dorothy famously triumphed over the Wicked Witch, we only ever heard one side of the story. Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel, Wicked: The Life & Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, created "one of the great heroines of fantasy literature" - Los Angeles Times, explaining how a misunderstood, green girl named Elphaba became "wicked" but her unlikely friend, Glinda, became "good".

The exceptional team that has brought this captivating story to life on stage includes many of Broadway's most celebrated creative talents: the Oscar and Grammy Award-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pocahontas, The Prince of Egypt), writer Winnie Holzman (My So-Called Life, The Wonder Years, thirtysomething), scenic designer Eugene Lee (Tony Award-winner for Candide, the original Sweeney Todd and Wicked), costume designer Susan Hilferty (Into The Woods, Tony Award-winner for Wicked), lighting designer Kenneth Posner (The Odd Couple, Hairspray), choreographer Wayne Cilento (Disney's Aida and a Tony Award-winner and Olivier Award nominee for The Who's Tommy) and director Joe Mantello (Tony Award-winner for Take Me Out, which premiered at the Donmar Warehouse, and Assassins.) Joe Mantello has also recently directed Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in The Odd Couple and is directing Julia Roberts' Broadway debut in Three Days of Rain. \n\nWinner of 15 major awards, this "spectacular spectacle" - New York Post transports audiences to a fantasy land of wizardry and witchcraft with Grammy Award-winning music, Tony Award-winning sets and costumes, and stunning special effects. \n\nThe Washington Post calls Wicked "a breathtaking success story of a magnitude the theatre has not witnessed since the peak years of The Phantom of the Opera". Now you can experience this magical new musical adventure in London and discover that you've not been told the whole story about the Land of Oz...
